About musingsofamathteacher

I am presently employed at New Sarepta Elementary School as a grade five teacher. During my career I have taught Grades 12 - 2. The past three years I was fortunate to work part-time as Math Lead for my school district, Black Gold Regional Schools, and have just recently accepted a part-time secondment with Edmonton Regional Learning Consortium. I have always had a passion for mathematics and am excited about implementing Alberta's "new" mathematics curriculum.

What a great idea, Carrie! I love your intro page. It’s reassuring to know that we can ‘count’ on you to provide us with insight and ideas on best practice learning for Math. At the Admin retreat the number one focus was on netbooks and HOTS. Peter spoke about where we were in 2007 and he actually used an old powerpoint from then to illustrate what the districts goals and vision were for the future. And now in 3 short years we are exactly on target with netbooks and grade threes now being increasingly immersed in their use. Think of where they will be when they graduate in 10 years! So I am looking forward to using this blog site to share and to learn new ideas of how to improve my classroom teaching with increasingly greater usage of manipulatives and critical thinking IT projects.

  2. Love your blog name! It is great to be working with you as members of the ERLC math team this year. I look forward to reading your posts and perhaps contribute some ideas that might help elementary school teachers.
