Math in the Month of May

Wow, this year has been speeding by so quickly.  I was looking for some activities to have my students work on during the Month of May.

Mental Math has been a focus of mine this year…as I continue to try to get students to embrace new methods of mathematics to help deepen their understanding.  While searching the web I came across the publication below.   Check it out if you are looking for classroom/home support in the mental math area!

Here are a couple of good websites with great math games for your students.

In my search I also came across a good support site for parents.

A language arts tie in that I am considering using this May is:

About musingsofamathteacher

I am presently employed at New Sarepta Elementary School as a grade five teacher. During my career I have taught Grades 12 - 2. The past three years I was fortunate to work part-time as Math Lead for my school district, Black Gold Regional Schools, and have just recently accepted a part-time secondment with Edmonton Regional Learning Consortium. I have always had a passion for mathematics and am excited about implementing Alberta's "new" mathematics curriculum.
