Welcome Back!

Welcome back to another school year!

July and August flew by, and we are now well into September!

I am beginning my Grade Five math studies this year with Patterning.  We have started looking at modelling and describing patterns, extending increasing and decreasing patterns, and solving problems using patterns.  Within a week or so we will be moving onto using expressions and equations when approaching our problems.

My students are excited to have access to Netbooks within our classroom allowing them much more access to internet activities.

Below are some of my most used resources including our district Black Gold Regional Schools Engaging Students page found at the link below:

This year I came across an Evans Newton Inc PAL Packet (Parent Resource):

Happy patterning!

About musingsofamathteacher

I am presently employed at New Sarepta Elementary School as a grade five teacher. During my career I have taught Grades 12 - 2. The past three years I was fortunate to work part-time as Math Lead for my school district, Black Gold Regional Schools, and have just recently accepted a part-time secondment with Edmonton Regional Learning Consortium. I have always had a passion for mathematics and am excited about implementing Alberta's "new" mathematics curriculum.
